Richard Dawson

Sure he may have cut his teeth in the 60s on Hogan’s Heroes, and then in the 70s on Match Game, but we 80s folk will always remember Richard Dawson as the original host of The Family Feud.

And, honestly, we’re still surprised his lips never fell off.

They called him “the Kissing Bandit”, and with good reason. He smooched anything (female) that moved, and, better yet, no one seemed to mind.

From ’76 to ’85, there he was, every night, looking more-than-dapper with his three-piece suit, fresh carnation, watch fob, platform loafers, and that extended pinky as he held the question cards.

Our man Richard oozed cool– so much so that we half-expected to see him cradling a brandy snifter as he informed us, “Hundred people survey, top five answers on the board. Here’s the question.”

Can you imagine Drew Carey giving every woman a little peck after they correctly guessed the price of that dinette set? Or how about Meredith Viera locking lips with that schlub who just used his last lifeline?

No sir. The 80s were different times. Awesome times.

We ♥ Richard Dawson.
