“Here in the land of Wuz, they’re having twice the fun, ’cause every single thing is really two-in-one…”

When a purple elephant just isn’t cute enough, there’s only one thing to do: combine it with a kangaroo to make a Wuzzle named… anyone?

Yup, Eleroo.

In the fall of 1985, Disney stepped up to the plate with a CBS Saturday morning cartoon for the ages. Wuzzles featured a handful of super-adorable and super-friendly animals, ranging from Bumblelion to Rhinokey, and each week they faced a challenge (weather, ghosts, etc.), while banding together to show us all the power of friendship.

If you’re thinking it sounds a lot like the Care Bears, well… you’re right.

But the Care Bears never had to deal with anyone like Crock (half-crocodile, half-dinosaur) and his evil henchmen Brat and Frizard.

Alas, our beloved Wuzzles only lasted a few short months before they were sent out to pasture, and ironically it was their competition over at NBC (Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears) that did them in.

Indeed, Disney fought Disney, and Disney lost (and won).

But hey… we’ll always have our memories of Butterbear and Hoppopotamus to keep us warm.

We ♥ Wuzzles.
