Lazer Tag

So you want all the excitement of paintball without all the mess and pain?

Well, strap on your sensor, buddy, and grab your gun. It’s time to suit up for Lazer Tag.

Created by Worlds of Wonder in 1986, Lazer Tag, if nothing else, got kids up off the couch (or away from the arcade) for a bit of a run-around-your-yard workout. And, really–– how much can you play ‘TV tag’ before you run out of shows?

The concept was something straight out of Battlestar Galactica… your gun shot a (harmless) laser at your opponents chest sensor, and if their little ring of lights lit up, well… they had to take a seat. Last one standing wins.

The more popular Lazer Tag got, the more cool accessories we got, including helmets, vests, rifles, and (of course) the requisite promotional tie-ins like Star Wars and G.I. Joe.

And best of all–– Lazer Tag is still around today for kids to enjoy (…and in pop culture, too. Perhaps most famously, How I Met Your Mother‘s Barney is a big-time fan.)

It is, in a word, legen… wait for it… dary.

We ♥ Lazer Tag.

  1. Lazer Tag was made by Worlds Of Wonder Inc. Same people who made Teddy Ruxpin.
