Talk Dirty To Me

C.C., pick a bad guitar and, uh, talk to me!

1987 won’t ever be called the most rockin’est year on record, with the top 5 songs all being of the ooey-gooey variety.

Thank God there was Poison’s “Talk Dirty to Me”.

From the opening riffs through to the killer solo, it’s one of those songs that just gets more and more awesome with each listen.

Of course, with Bret Michaels growling about gettin’ it on in all kinds of exotic locales (the bushes, the drive-in), how could you not love it?

Sure, the boys from Poison had more make-up and better hair than any girl at her senior prom that year, but, hey, we don’t love the song because the guys looked so pretty.

We love it because of the thumping drums, the squealing guitar, Bret’s vocals, and because we all remember going down in the basement and lockin’ the cellar door for a little dirty talkin’ (and maybe even a little more than that) ourselves.

Though it was the second single released from Poison’s Look What the Cat Dragged In (after “Cry Tough”), it was their first to actually make it onto the charts– peaking at #9 in mid-May.

They’d have bigger hits, sure, but it all kicked off with this one. And we can’t think of a better place to start.
