The Real Ghostbusters

“If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call?”

It was one of our favorite films of the 80s, so it only stands to reason that the Saturday morning carton version would be among our favorites, too.

And then when we saw it was not only Ghostbusters, but ‘Real’ Ghostbusters? Well… how could we not watch?

Premiering in the fall of 1986, The Real Ghostbusters continued the exploits of Venkman, Egon, Stantz, and Winston (and Slimer and Janine, too) as they battled all manner of supernatural nastiness.

And though none of them looked or sounded at all like their movie counterparts (we can certainly understand why Bill Murray was a little upset that he sounded like Garfield all of a sudden), we still watched every Saturday morning at 10am on ABC (or at 10:30 in season 2… or at 9:30 in season 3, when it became Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters and expanded to a full hour).

The longer it went (and it lasted for seven seasons), the sillier and more kid-ish it got, but hey… anything that reminds us of one of our favorite movies it okay by us.

And having the intelligence to include our old buddy Stay-Puft? Well, that makes it just plain awesome.
